Lake Iseo can’t
exist without Romanino.
So that Pinocchio stopping in the church of “Santa Maria della
Neve” (St Mary of the Snow) in Pisogne is overcome by a
dizziness similar to the Stendhal syndrome: sibyls and
prophets, snarling curs, soldiers playing darts rotate around
him in Piovanelli’s work; that is the swirling sum of
pictorial elements that feature the Pisognese cycle.
